40 years ago Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, bounced around, took some sample moon rocks and inspired a nation that was at that time tearing itself apart. It was 1969. There was a lot going on.
All my life I have been fascinated with space. What’s out there? Who’s out there? When I saw the first pictures of the surface of Mars beamed back from the rovers I was thrilled. I was gazing at the horizon of a whole other planet.
There’s a new push to land a man on Mars. Can it be done? Should it be done? On one hand, yes it should and one day we will be able to. Think of all the technology that came from our pursuit of the moon. On the other hand, no, we have a huge national debt and problems galore here on Earth that technology can’t solve.
